Music: American Landmark Festivals presents The Barber of Seville

The Smith Opera House, 82 Seneca Street, Geneva

Presented by American Landmark Festivals

Staged and directed by Albert Bergeret. Featured in the cast are baritones Ryan Allen ad Dr. Bartolo and Jimi James as Figaro.

Gioachino Rossini's comic opera "The Barber of Seville" will be sung in English.

The star is the shrewd barber Figaro and the story spirals around the lovely Rosina. The wealthy count Almaviva has his eye on her, but he disguises himself as the poor student Lindoro so that she isn't distracted by his fortune.

Rosina is a charge of Dr. Bartolo, who keeps her housebound and desires her for himself. Figaro pledges to aid Almaviva in his quest for Rosina. When Almaviva's dual identities are uncovered, Rosina woefully agrees to marry Dr. Bartolo until a timely abduction attempt reveals that her true love is precisely the man she'd hoped for.
