Music: Music for a Summer's Eve

Geneva Room, Warren Hunting Smith Library, Hobart & William Smith Colleges.  August 20: A chamber music concert of music by Robert and Clara Schumann on the occasion of the year of the 200th birthday of Robert Schumann. Featured are Geneva Artists: Hannah Collins (cello), Hilda Collins (Piano), Shichao Zhang (piano) and Jeremy Zhu (violin) of the Eastman School of Music, and George Abraham (piano). The concert include the R. Schumann Fantasy pieces for Cello and Piano, the R. Schumann piano sonata #2, the R. Schumann Romances for violin and piano, and the rarely heard Clara Schumann Trio for violin cello and piano. August 21: Another Chamber music concert featuring the distinguished Paragon string Quartet with pianists Hilda Collins and Linda Boianova.Featured is the Brahms string quarter #1, the Schumann violin and piano sonata #2, and the exhuberant R. Schumann piano quintet. Both concerts are free but a free-will donation of an item of non-perishable food is requested for the food banks of the Salvation Army and the Center of Concern. In lieu of a food item, a free-will cash contribution of $5 is requested for the Catholic Charities sponsored noon lunch program.
