May 2021: Live Performances are Here!

A year and two months later, live performances are back at The Smith! We are so thrilled to be able to welcome you back into the theatre!

HERE’S WHAT TO EXPECT WITH LIVE PERFORMANCES AT THE SMITH

New CDC Polices and The Smith

Because The Smith is not currently requiring patrons to provide proof of vaccination or negative test status upon entry, we will be requiring all patrons to wear masks, complete a symptom check upon entry that includes a temperature, and maintain 6 feet of distance between parties, especially while seated to watch a show. For Governor Cuomo’s latest press release regarding this guidance, please go here.

Capacity Restrictions

As of May 7, 2021, The Smith’s max capacity for live events is still 100 ticket holders due to NYS mandates. Staff, volunteers, and performers are not included in the 100 persons count. All parties will receive pre-assigned seating to preserve required physical distancing measures.

As of May 19, 2021, The Smith will be allowed to sell up to 250 tickets per event. However, due to social distancing measures which are still in place, The Smith is self imposing a 200 ticket cap for all events. This will allow all patrons to be seated on the orchestra level. All parties will receive pre-assigned seating to preserve required physical distancing measures.

REQUIREMENTS FOR AUDIENCE MEMBERS

All audience members entering The Smith for a live event will be subjected to symptom checking at the door, which includes a temperature check. If you would like to complete your symptom check in advance, please download and print our survey. All symptom trackers need to be filled out on the day of the performance.

If an audience member fails a symptom check for any reason, they will need to leave The Smith immediately. Refund compensation is at the discretion of the event host.

Audience members will not need to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to enter our venue.

Audience members will have to abide by our COVID-19 Policies while in The Smith Opera House:

  • receiving a symptom check, including temperature, upon arrival to the venue
  • adhering to pre-assigned seating
  • wearing a face covering while at the venue
  • maintaining 6 feet physical distance between yourself and other patrons who are not in your party
  • abiding by all signage posted at the venue
  • If you, or any member of your party, is feeling ill or has been in close contact with anyone with a known case of COVID-19, please stay home.
A NEW LOBBY LAYOUT

All patrons will enter The Smith through our handicapped accessible glass door at the main entrance. From there they will line up across the vestibule and enter the lobby through the opposite set of doors.

All audience members must either present or receive a symptom check, including temperature, to enter the building. Once inside, guests will visit our check in table and receive their seating assignments if they do not have them already. Please have proof of ticket purchase with you, either on your mobile device or printed.

Due to physical distancing procedures, you will see plenty of arrows and distance lines tapped as well as stanchions set up in our lobby. Our auditorium has a One Way enter and exit flow, the center aisles are to enter and the outer aisles are to exit. Clear lucite barriers will be setup at our concessions booth, ticket check-in, and Noble pick up station.

BOX OFFICE

Due to COVID-19, our box office policies have changed. All tickets must be purchased online, there will be no will call tickets available nor at-the-door or in person sales. Due to state mandates all ticket holders will receive assigned seating upon arrival at The Smith.

CONCESSIONS

With the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, it’s important that we provide a minimal contact concessions experience. That’s why we’ve partnered with Noble to not only streamline our concessions process, but also to maximize the physical distancing measures we’ve put in place. Skip the line and get back to the movie faster with Noble. Download the Noble App in the Apple App or Google Play Store. Or visit our Noble webpage.

Please note, Noble may not be available for every event at The Smith.

Want to still order your concessions the old way? No problem! We now have chip readers available for contactless credit card transactions. All volunteers handling food and drink in concessions will be wearing gloves and changing them frequently.

SANITATION

Your safety is The Smith’s biggest priority. That’s why we’ve enhanced our cleaning procedures. After each event, our auditorium will be carefully disinfected and high-touch surfaces will be wiped down periodically with EPA-registered disinfectant. In addition to keeping a safe building, multiple hand sanitizer stations will be available in our lobby. Proper hand hygiene is required for all staff and volunteer members, and is highly encouraged for our patrons as well.
