Movies are Back: October 2020

After a long wait, movies are back at The Smith! In-person events have officially resumed on October 30th. We are so thrilled to be able to welcome you back into the theatre!

“Back in March when our stage went dark, we didn’t anticipate how long the wait would be. We are so grateful to be able to open up to screen movies on the largest screen in the Finger Lakes. It will be fun to have costumed patrons walk through our doors over Halloween weekend and to smell freshly popped popcorn,” says Susie Monagan, The Smith’s Executive Director. “We are implementing safety precautions including limiting the number of people in the theatre and pushing all ticket purchasing to online, in advance. As long as Ontario County’s COVID case numbers stay under control, we will be scheduling films through the end of the year.”

Here’s what to expect when returning to The Smith

A New Lobby Layout

All patrons will enter The Smith through our handicapped accessible glass door at the main entrance. From there they will line up across the vestibule and enter the lobby through the opposite set of doors. Once inside, volunteers will be waiting to contactlessly check in your tickets. Guests will receive their seating assignments as they check in.

Due to physical distancing procedures, you will see plenty of arrows and distance lines tapped as well as stanchions set up in our lobby. Our auditorium has a One Way enter and exit flow, the center aisles are to enter and the outer aisles are to exit. Clear lucite barriers will be setup at our concessions booth, ticket check-in, and Noble pick up station.

Box Office

Due to COVID-19, our box office policies have changed. All tickets must be purchased online, there will be no at-the-door or in person sales. Due to state mandates, seating is limited to 50 people and all ticket holders will receive assigned seating upon arrival at The Smith.

Concessions

With the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, it’s important that we provide a minimal contact concessions experience. That’s why we’ve partnered with Noble to not only streamline our concessions process, but also to maximize the physical distancing measures we’ve put in place. Skip the line and get back to the movie faster with Noble. Download the Noble App in the Apple App or Google Play Store. Or visit our Noble webpage.

Want to still order your concessions the old way? No problem! We now have chip readers available for contactless credit card transactions. All volunteers handling food and drink in concessions will be wearing gloves and changing them frequently.

Sanitation

Your safety is The Smith’s biggest priority. That’s why we’ve enhanced our cleaning procedures. After each screening, our auditorium will be carefully disinfected and high-touch surfaces will be wiped down periodically with EPA-registered disinfectant. In addition to keeping a safe building, multiple hand sanitizer stations will be available in our lobby. Proper hand hygiene is required for all staff and volunteer members, and is highly encouraged for our patrons as well.
