“A Cappella Sunday” comes to the Smith Opera House September 9 (July 30, 2018)

GENEVA NY — The Smith Opera House in Geneva is proud to present “A Cappella Sunday: An Harmonious Afternoon of Song” on Sunday, September 9 at 2 p.m.

The concert will feature performances from several a cappella singing groups from the Finger Lakes region, including the Finger Lakes Chorus, Harmonic Collective Chorus, Mark Twain Chorus, Barbershock, Herd’n Katz, So Noted and others.

“The motivation to bring this program to life is from both a love of singing and a love for The Smith. This is a wonderful venue to hear some of the best vocal music that the Finger Lakes has to offer,” says concert co-organizer and Smith Opera House volunteer Doug Peeso.

As members of the Barbershop Harmony Society’s Seneca Land District, some of these groups recently competed in the Barbershop Harmony Society’s 2018 International Convention in Orlando. Harmonic Collective, from Liverpool, Onondaga County, placed 22nd at the event’s Chorus Finals, while Barbershock placed 13th in the NextGen Varsity Quartet.

Admission to A Cappella Sunday is $10, free for youth 5 and younger. Part of the proceeds will go to the Geneva Center of Concern. Tickets will be available at the door one hour before the start of the concert. Seating is general admission. Advance tickets will soon be available online at www.thesmith.org . Please note that The Smith Box Office will not be selling advance tickets for this event.
