Box Office Policies and House Rules

A WORD OF CAUTION ABOUT BUYING TICKETS ON THE SECONDARY TICKET MARKET

Before purchasing tickets or joining us for an event, please review our box office policies and house rules. These box office policies only apply to tickets being sold by The Smith Center for the Arts. As many community organizations rent the Smith Opera House and independently ticket their events, please reach out to these organizations for any questions on ticketing policies.

The Box Office is open Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 4pm. If you wish to leave a message for our Box Office staff, please email boxoffice@thesmith.org or call (315) 781-5483.

In accordance with New York state law, our ticket prices reflect all fees. Fees may be reduced if paying with cash in-person at the box office.

In the event of an extreme weather emergency, please call the Box Office to check performance status. Note that all changes in schedule are also posted to social media and our website.

We do have audio devices to loan out for movies and live events, with the choice of earphones or induction loop. You will need to provide ID during your loan period. The devices are connected to our sound system for movies. If you need an audio device for a live event, please contact the theater in advance during box office hours, 315-781-5483, so we can ensure audio connection.

To maintain an enjoyable atmosphere and respect performers’ rights, we ask patrons to follow these guidelines regarding photography and videography:

  1. Movies: Photography and videography are not permitted during movie screenings to avoid distracting others and to respect copyright laws.

  2. Live Performances: Please use discretion when taking photos or videos. Be mindful of those around you, and avoid obstructing anyone’s view or disturbing the performance.

  3. Artist-Specific Rules: Some artists may request stricter guidelines for their performances, including no photography or videography at all. When these rules apply, we kindly ask that all guests honor the artist’s wishes.

To ensure an enjoyable experience for all our patrons, please observe the following guidelines regarding cell phone use:

  1. Movies: During movie screenings, we ask that all cell phones be silenced.

  2. Live Performances: Please use discretion with your phone and be courteous to those around you. If you must use your device, please do so quietly and with minimal disruption.

  3. Artist-Specific Rules: At times, individual artists or performers may impose stricter cell phone rules. In such cases, we ask that patrons kindly adhere to these requests to respect the artist’s wishes.

The Box Office accepts cash, checks with ID, and all major credit cards. You may also use Smith Gift Cards for ticket purchases, though any balance must be paid in cash or check. Ticket purchases with a Smith Gift Card must be done in the Box Office.
No refunds or exchanges are allowed for any events ticketed by The Smith. Please call the Box Office if you have lost your tickets. We’re happy to look your order up for you and reissue the tickets.

The Smith is accessible to those who use wheelchairs and other mobility devices. You may buy accessible seats online or purchase them with the help of our ticketing associate by calling the Box Office. Please note the Smith does not have an elevator.

Late seating of patrons may be disruptive to audience members who arrived on time. Patrons arriving late for a performance may be required to stand or sit in a pre-designated area of the theater until intermission or until an appropriate break in the performance allows seating without disruption to the performance and our patrons.
New York State bans smoking in all public buildings. There is no smoking in The Smith. This includes e-cigarettes and vaporizers. Patrons caught smoking will be asked to leave the building.

No outside food or drink are allowed in the Smith Opera House. Snacks and beverages are available for purchase at most Smith events.
