Chinatown (1974)

Buy Tickets
Tuesday, March 10 at 7pm, doors at 6:30pm
Smith Opera House
Bank of the Finger Lakes

Originally titled Water and Power, Chinatown is a stylish neo-noir about the evil underside of land development in 1930s Los Angeles.

At the center of the story is Jake Gittes (Jack Nicholson), a private eye who becomes entwined in an investigation involving Evelyn Mulwray (Faye Dunaway), her father Noah Cross (John Huston), the corrupt mismanagement of natural resources, and a horrific family secret.

Chinatown is, as Peter Bradshaw claims “a powerful piece of myth-making [and] a brilliant evocation of Los Angeles as a spiritual desert.” Don’t miss this highly acclaimed film on the big screen.

This film is sponsored by Bank of the Finger Lakes and in collaboration with HWS Year of Water.
