Join us as returning GMF artists celebrate the way musical influence reverberates across the ages. This evening’s works are linked by their shared sources of inspiration, and form a musical network that spans eras and genres. Jörg Widmann’s “Hunting Quartet” acts as a linchpin, quoting Schumann’s programmatic work Papillons, and offering a twenty-first century take on Mozart’s String Quartet No. 17 (“The Hunt”).

W.A. MOZART: String Quartet No. 17 in B-flat Major, K. 458 “The Hunt”

ROBERT SCHUMANN: Papillons, Op. 2

JÖRG WIDMANN: String Quartet No. 3 “Hunting Quartet”

ROBERT SCHUMANN: Piano Quartet in E-flat Major, Op. 47
