Persepolis (2008)

Tuesday, February 25 at 7pm, doors open at 6:30pm
Smith Opera House
Bank of the Finger Lakes

Based on Satrapi’s graphic novel of the same name, Persepolis is a deeply personal film about the author’s coming of age during the Iranian Revolution and the political unrest that followed. With humor and gravity the film recounts her experience of home, alienation, and identity across two continents.

As New York Times critic A.O. Scott declared, it “is full of warmth and surprise, alive with humor and a fierce independence of spirit. Its flat, stylized depiction of the streets and buildings of Tehran and Vienna in particular turns geography into poetry.”

Open to the public.

This film is presented by Bank of the Finger Lakes in conjunction with HWS Introduction to Global Animation with Dr. Zulkarnain.
