Wilson’s career has spanned some of the top restaurants across the United States, including Frasca Food & Wine in Boulder, CO; The Little Nell in Aspen; and RN74 in San Francisco. He is perhaps best known for his position as Wine Director of the 3 Michelin-starred restaurant Eleven Madison Park. His work is chronicled in Jason Wise’s award-winning Somm films, and in Somm III, he takes on a central role, organizing tastings for the some of the most discriminating palates in the industry.

Directed by Jason Wise, Somm III, weaves together two storylines. The first assembles three legends – critic Jancis Robinson, master sommelier Fred Dame, and writer Stephen Spurrier – for a tasting and discussion of some of the most iconic wines in history. The second brings together a group of young wine professionals in order to blind taste Pinot Noir from around the world and put Wilson’s assertion that “a great Pinot Noir can come from anywhere…” to the test. In the end, the highest scoring wines are then brought before Robinson, Dame, and Spurrier for their assessment. In spirit, Somm III returns us to 1976’s “Judgment of Paris” – a blind tasting event (organized by Spurrier) in which vintages from Napa Valley outscored those from Bordeaux, changing the wine industry for good. Merging old and new worlds, legends and rising stars, sensory science and sense memories, Somm III invites viewers to contemplate the future of wine and to take pleasure in everything it has to offer right now.

During the pre-screening tasting, Wilson will be joined by Kelby Russell of Red Newt Cellars and they will lead the audience in a tasting of Finger Lakes reislings and cabernet francs. Immediately following the screening of Somm III, there will be a moderated question and answer session with Wilson. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to indulge in an evening of wine!
