Medley on Linden Returns to Geneva on August 19 (July 16, 2018)

GENEVA, NY — Come drink, dine and dance on Geneva’s romantic Linden Street as the Smith Center for the Arts brings back its popular Medley on Linden on Sunday, August 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. Celebrating the flavors of the Finger Lakes and supporting The Smith Center for the Arts and its historic venue, the Smith Opera House, Medley on Linden is an update of The Smith’s popular Medley of Tastes.

Area restaurants, wineries, breweries and other food and beverage producers will offer up creative bites for attendees to sample as they stroll lovely Linden Street (closed to traffic on weekends). Participating vendors include HJ Stead Restaurant, Kindred Fare Restaurant, Pier House Restaurant, Billsboro Winery, Atwater Estate Vineyards, WeBe Brewing Co. and Bottomless Brewing.

There will also be live music performed by three local bands. The Lipker Sisters sing three-part harmony much like the Andrews Sisters and the Boswell SIsters, bringing back sounds from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. Sweet Lou and the Otters play all-acoustic covers of Tim McGraw, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen and other musicians from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Brad & Anna perform a harmony-driven repertoire of rock, bluegrass, folk and more.

The Smith Opera House has been offering quality performing arts and cultural opportunities for area residents and regional visitors since 1894. With events open to the public, the theater is an ongoing symbol of historic preservation, non-profit perseverance and artistic excellence.

“Ticket sales alone do not fully cover our operating costs; fundraisers are vital to helping meet our financial needs. The money raised with events like Medley on Linden enables The Smith to keep ticket prices affordable and to present diverse artists in a wide range of genres. The Smith is proud to act as a cultural anchor for downtown Geneva, with shows that engage, educate, and help make Geneva a lively destination for entertainment, business, and living,” says Executive Director Susie Monagan.

Tickets are $30 and include a souvenir glass and the best tastes of Geneva. Tickets are now on sale at thesmith.org and at the Smith Opera House Box Office during box office hours. They will also be available at the entrance to the event, which is on the corner of Linden and Seneca streets.

Parking for Medley on Linden is available in the free municipal lot on Seneca Street, as well as street parking on Seneca, Exchange, Castle and Main streets in downtown Geneva.

Hancock Estabrook LLP is a generous sponsor of this event.
