Box Office Policies and House Rules

Before purchasing tickets or joining us for an event, please review our box office policies and house rules.

Box Office Policies

Below is a list of our box office policies. The Box Office is open Monday through Friday from 10am to 4pm. If you wish to leave a message for our Box Office staff, please email boxoffice@thesmith.org or call (315) 781-5483 to leave a voicemail.

These box office policies only apply to tickets being sold by The Smith Center for the Arts, with the exception of The Smith’s ArtSmart series. Please refer to our ArtSmart policy page for more information. Many community organizations rent The Smith Opera House and independently ticket their events. Please reach out to these organizations for any questions on ticketing policies.

Payment Options

The Box Office accepts cash, checks with ID, and all major credit cards. You may also use Smith Gift Cards for ticket purchases, though any balance must be paid in cash or check. Ticket purchases with a Smith Gift Card must be done in the Box Office.

Ticket Service Fees

Our ticket prices may include service fees. These fees help cover the cost of our ticketing service, Eventbrite, and Box Office staffing.

No Refunds or Exchanges/Lost Tickets

Due to COVID-19, tickets may be eligible for refund depending on the status of the show. Refund inquiries can be sent to boxoffice@thesmith.org and must include the event name and ticket order number. Please note that tickets can only be refunded to the original ticket buyer and issued to events that The Smith Center for the Arts is selling tickets for.

Inclement Weather Policy

The Smith Opera House will not issue refunds to patrons who chose not attend a performance or event due to bad weather. When in doubt, call the Box Office during box office hours (10 am to 4 pm Tuesday through Friday) to confirm a performance. Also, please check our Facebook page.

ADA Seating

ADA seating can only be purchased by contacting the box office, either in person or over the phone.

House Rules

The following house rules apply to all Smith Center for the Arts shows as well as any event held at the Smith Opera House.

Late Seating

Late seating of patrons is often disruptive to audience members seated on a timely basis. Therefore, patrons arriving late for a performance may be required to stand or sit in a pre-designated area of the theater until intermission or until an appropriate break allow seating without disruption to the performance and our patron.

Audio Devices

We do have audio devices to loan out for movies and live events, with the choice of earphones or induction loop. You will need to provide ID during your loan period. The devices are connected to our sound system for movies. If you need an audio device for a live event, please contact the theater in advance during box office hours, 315-781-5483, so we can ensure audio connection.

No Smoking

New York State bans smoking in all public buildings. There is no smoking in The Smith. This includes e-cigarettes and vaporizers. Patrons caught smoking will be asked to leave the building.

Photography, Sound Recording and Video

Photography, video and sound recording are not allowed at any show or performance without the consent of the promoter.

No Outside Food and Drink

You may bring empty water containers to fill at our water fountain.

Cell Phones and Mobile Devices

All cell phones and electronic devices must be silenced or turned off during all movies and live performances. If you need to make or take a call, please do so in our lobby or foyer.
