Sing Your Heart Out at The Smith with Choir! Choir! Choir! this Saturday!

GENEVA, NY – On Saturday, December 4th at 8:00pm, the Smith Center for the Arts will present a unique Toronto-based singing event called Choir! Choir! Choir!. Equal parts singing, comedy, and community-building, the night unfolds like a dream: audience members get a lyric sheet at the door, showrunners Daveed Goldman and Nobu Adilman (AKA “DaBu”) teach different sections of an overarching vocal arrangement, and a video is recorded to preserve the final musical performance created by the collective voices of an audience of strangers. This emotional, connective experience transforms spectators into singers, listeners into performers, and ticketed seats into the stage itself! The upcoming engagement of Choir! Choir! Choir! at The Smith is funded through the Mid Atlantic Tours program of Mid Atlantic Arts with support from the National Endowment for the Arts. During this performance, Goldman and Dabu will direct the audience in a rendition of a surprise 80’s hit, to be revealed during the course of the event! If you’d like to participate in this singular vocal celebration, purchase tickets here.

Showrunners, Daveed Goldman and Nobu Adilman (AKA “DaBu”) started Choir! Choir! Choir! In Toronto as a weekly drop-in singing event in February 2011. Since then they have taken their incredible interactive event on tour, and shared their musical arrangements with thousands of music lovers all over the country. Audiences of thousands have been joined by such musical giants as David Byrne of the Talking Heads and Colin Hay of Men at Work to sing one-time, unique renditions of classic musical hits. If you’re curious about which songs they’ve sung (and when!), you can see the whole list here and video recordings of their many performances here on their YouTube channel.

We want to make sure we all gather safely during this holiday season.
