This Is Not Berlin (2019)
Hari Sama’s electrifying coming-of-age tale that embodies the anarchic spirit of experimental post-punk. The film, which takes place in 1980s Mexico City, transforms into a kaleidoscopic portrait of avant-garde art, direct-action protest, queer awakening, and the dizzying, dangerous freedom of a world seemingly without rules. Anchored by marvelous performances from its young cast, and Sama’s assured, inventive sense of style, it’s a picture suffused in both historical perspective and a forward-looking sense of the possible.

Tickets for this showing of This Is Not Berlin are FREE for HWS faculty, staff and students at the door. There will be an introduction given by Robinson Murphy, Visiting Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at Hobart and William Smith.
This show will be seated general admission- first come, first served.
The Smith’s box office will be open for in person of over the phone sales Tuesday-Friday from 10am-4pm. Tickets may also be purchased in person the night of the show. Doors open 1/2 hour before screening. Online tickets can be purchased at any time.
